regularman
I am getting ready to rebuild my ea81(got it all apart right now). I am looking for a re-ring kit. You know the kind with all the gaskets and bearing and rings. I have been checking with calipers and have found surpisingly little wear on an engine with 170,000 miles on it. The valves and guides look fine and I'm just going to re-lap them to the seat, so I don't need those(just valve seals). The best price I have found on a re-ring kit is $150 plus shipping. Is there anything better out there? Also I'm doing an engine swap and I need a set of short flywheel bolts for an EA81 automatic. The Ea82 bolts wont fit and the 4 speed flywheel bolts are way too long.
Ross
You should measure with a micrometer, not a vernier. Things like valve stems and bearing journals need to be within a very tight tolerance.
