Suspention Recommendation?

Recommended Posts

After looking at the front of my newly revitalized 80 DL hatch , I noticed that the front wheels were both angled slightly inwards toward the bottom of the motor. Looks like it's time to replace the shocks on the front. Anyone have anything in mind? I just bought all new tires and will be doing some light offroading on trails. No lift, all stock. 4wd.

Old subies always have some camber. This is especially so if you have your struts adjusted up.

I would not replace your struts unless you are sure they are bent or worn out.

The car only has 53k on it. When I take it in for the alignment, I'll have my mechanic take a look at it. The previous owner bought tires at sears a few years back and they have on the slip that it needed shocks. The one tire on the left front side had some uneven wear on the outside, but I think the guy hit a curb and never had it aligned ... the grease cap was missing off the wheel. Nothing looks bent underneath. It does need aligned. How much camber is normal?

has the front suspension been jacked up? you can normally tell this if there is a nut(s) in between the plate the spring sits in and the plate that plate sits on...

as for stock camber I wouldn't know. I will see if my manual has anything on that.
