Recommended Posts

yo we have the go-ahead to get the trashwagon replica from iowa, we will be hading out tonight and arriving in the morning, we need to bring this car back and have it painted by friday night, so we can take it on the hot rod power tour

we will be going from milwaukee to indianapolis. from there we will deviate the power tour and head out to columbus. jason, john, ed, jim, we will be in the area come sun/mon, maybe if we can stay over each place tim will be bringing his camera and may want interviews about miles fox and the subaru alliance. also i will have a camera for my own footage

and on top of that, jerry henry from L.A, a camera man for hire who has been behind the camera for shows like monster garage and monser house, will be along for the ride making a movie about tim making a movie about me, who is making a movie about a guy making a movie about a guy making a movie who is having a movie made about him making a movie about,...anyway there will be 3 cameras

we may hit the junk yard in columbus, we will have the tow dolly to move cars around for john. we will also be going to for t wayne to pick up my rx from zanny dooks. this will all be within the upcoming week

after this week i cam make plans for an east coast trip if anyone still wants me out there, i will have till august 1st before any court dates

MilesFox, if you don't make it out here soon, the yellow Brat is going on eBay, no one here can fix it.

It may need a carb, and/or EGR so if you can snag them in your travels, I'll buy them for future use (by me or the future owner).

So, we have a place for you to sleep and food and some money, and a dog to play with and...

...are the bribes working YET?

I can come up with a handful of guys whgo can fix it,Mary. We should talk if you don't mind trailering it down here.I know three Master Techs,2 of which were "Senior"MT's,and my brother was a tech from the late 70's to around '83 so he also knows those EA71's in and out.

By all means, give Miles a shot. But just incase he can't make it or decides the EA71 isn't his bag....

You forgot to mention the boat excursion with Moosens, out to George's...Tuna coming!!:drunk:

Plans changed slightly; no problems with the new Trashwagon (Trashwagon 7 or 5 II depending who you talk to...I kinda like Trashwagon 5 II) or with Fox towing the RX all the way back to Milwaukee with the sedan and my tow dolly.

We had to be back here Tuesday night on account of a filmmaker who is actually making a movie about -me- and had a flight back to LA today.

Fox is still gearing up for an East Coast trip but cash is tight at present; as soon as we can find some local employ and a bit of green he should be on his way, tentatively within the month. So, keep vigilant, he has not forgotten you.

As far as how the trip went, well, it had ups and downs. Sunday was nine hours of driving all to get to Springfield too late to do much of anything (compounded by the fact that I rear-ended a trailer hitched to a '67 Camaro promptly upon reaching the fairgrounds), Monday in Indy went well with lots of positive response to the movie project and also Fox ran a decent 20.49 quarter mile at Indianapolis Raceway Park with a substantially loaded down sedan still wearing a bit of mud from the Ohio meet. We have all of that on video. Would've run the Trashwagon myself but we flat ran out of time.

yo folks, here i am in milwaukee agian. so far i got 2 potential subarus to fis and a pending application at harbor freight and maybe an interview at radio shack come monday....

yeah the power tour was fun. on my way to milwaukee i managed to get 457 miles out of the sedan before i ran out of gas, could have got 475 maybe if i didnt go downtown chicago. anyway i left from columbus oh so that is pretty good for the same tank of gas

i have never been to much of a car show so it was all out going to the power tour. i got a lot of" i havent seen one of these in a while, i used to have a BRAT" in response to the subaru. indeed we were the only subarus on the power tour, i did see a wrx but i think it was part of the vendor setup, and a legacy gt that was part of another vendor setup.

we got the replica wagon from iowa thursday, painted it friday, finished the paint saturday morning, peeled tape and hit the power tour. we put on the mirrors and grille and trim at the venue once we got there. not bad for a car resurrected from a farmers field in iowa, to drive to milwaukee 4oo miles and then round the power tour. so fat all it needed was a little bit of oil and lots of gas. trouble free otherwise considering it has a sharp metallic noise coming fom the motor. neds valve lash adj i say, the guy who sld it to us said he drove it like this for 50,000 miles

we had a tv and vcr under the hood with the ac inverter, and posters with pics of the original trashwagon 5 from the wcss5 meet on display with the replica at indianapolis. i had the sedan all cleaned up with posters of pics from the alliance meet, all the mud

we were the FIRST ones there to indy, considering we drove all night from springfield as to not be late to indy. all the while im towing this tow dolly since milwaukee, and am averaging fairly good for fuel economy. with the dolly i still made my 360 mile mark, which averages out to about 27 mpg

i got my car in on the drag race, the tech inspection was "seatbelts, if you have a convertible a helmet, and anything else i dont feel like f*'n with" for safety we had to wear long pants and have the windows up.

being a bracket race and never racing before i figured i would run 20 flat. well i ran 20.43, i was late on the green light but launched in 4-lo, thru 3rd, shift into 2 hi tho carry the rest of 3rd and hit 4th before the finish line. all with 2 5 gal gas cans in the back, oops, weight or safety? anyway here is my time:

r/t .657

60 2.546

330 7.968

1.8 12.736

mph 51.19

1000 16.886

1/4 20.435

mph62.78

from indy we went to my place in fort wayne, stayed the night, and picked up the rx in the morning. the sedan towed pretty good with the rx, i would take off in lo 1st and get going and shift to hi 1st and drive as usual. i ran an average temp of 230 with the heat on. half way across i picked some mud out of my radiator and such. then traffic jams in chicago man i HATE driving thru chicago since there is absolutely no way around it without going way south and west or without a big lake in the way. anyway i managed to make it to milwaukee on the same gas in tow, 300 miles to the same tank.

after arriving to milwaukee and unhitched the sedan still runs 230, so i will blame the thermostat and not the towing for the temp being so high. she did not overheat, nor puke for that mayyer, but the sedan seemed to have been running warmewr and warmer as the miles went by. i have put 10,000 miles on this car in the past 3 months since i put it together with whatever thermostat was in the intake i used form a 91 loyale. time for a new one, and brakes too since they feel chunky.

anyway im dwn for the east coast jog sometime beforew my next court date aug 1st, so long as i can come up with the gas to get out there first

 good to hear everything went well with the wagon :drunk:

I warned you it takes a lot of gas :D

that noise you heard is "normal", I adjusted the valves, replaced distributor, set timing, and that made it run decent, about 500 miles before you got it

would love to see pics!

miles... 86subaru and I are trying to arrange a car trade, but he's in ohio and I'm in upstate new york.

since you're coming from the direction of ohio, towards new york, and then probably back, do you think it would maybe be possible to tow his brat to me in new york and then tow my legacy to him in ohio on your way back?

there would be money involved for compensation

I'm back.....REALLY could use Miles' help.

Send a message of some sort and we'll all put money in your pocket,I'm sure.

I figure between Connie and I we can put you up in CT for a couple of days, send you off with some dough.

Then you've got Mary and if you make the long haul, you've got Milt.

I have to pitch for Milt here one moment. He's a grade A,number ONE,stand up guy who can't get as much done as he'd like to due to various conditions. If you can help him that'd be a huge favor that I'm sure won't go unpaid.

Also, you'll love being up there for a short spell. If I take you into NYC you'll have both ends of the spectrum covered.Maximum intensity and minimal stress. To stay at his place is a TREAT....and should be considered a reward of life!!!

Trust me,I don't need to B/S you or anybody about the enjoyment of solitude, just listening to the waves,etc....a REAL place to get one's head aligned.

Worth the drive!!!!!

Please try to make arrangements ASAP.

I REALLY need someone. Please don't make me pay a top dollar joint. My parking space at my mother inlaw's has worn itself out.Man,I really really need to move cars and get that turbo wagon back in action......S.O.S.!!!!!

I'd rather pay you and have the pleasure of hanging out with you than pay some ripoff shop that doesn't know half of what you do.

Am I getting anywhere here??:)

Call me or email,etc.....THANKS!!!!!!

yo i have been communicating with jim about this towing business. im down for that so long as i can come up with 75 bucks by the 23d to cover insurance, if im going to be towing cars and all. anyway the tow dolly has new lights and wiring and i repaired the broken fender mount. jim i parted the new water pump you gave me for the rx for the sedan, since the rx is sitting all busted up right now, so that will put my car back to spec for towing. i figured out my alignment i need to turn the passenger tie rod out a few turns and replace the driver side front tire as its worn on the outside.

the sedan tows really good but i can see 4mp 3rd gear in some really hilly country. but she maintains 55 up wisconsin hills mostly in 5th and sometimes 4th. downshift and slow early, brakes are only to come do a stop so its all shifting for control

how much would a legacy weigh compared to an rx on a dolly loaded down with parts, 3500-400 lbs i presume i was towing in all with the sedan

anyway i got 200 buks waiting for me as soon as i get to racine to fix a rear main seal in a subaru i had replaced a hub on earlier, so that should put me up if i get there within this week.

if uhaul calls me i'll just tell them i wil be ready to start in 2 weeks or whatever, got to go where the moneys at, and ight as well get some more miles behind me before the inevitable with this dam court junk.

anyway once i get this rear seal job done this week i will be MAKING SERIOUS PLANS to make this trip so my mind is set to go out towards the end of the month, so lets do this

i have a viseo camera might as well bring it since i have already ofer 55 hours of tape as of now since the suabru alliance meet and the hot rod power tour

good news and "bad" news:

the good news is i have the 200 dollar job lined up for tomorrow or the next day, so i can pay my ins.

the "bad" news is i have an interview at the u-haul for a job.

if it turns out u haul takes me right away i will have to take that as priority so i can draw an income and put towards rent, and then plan for a free week afterwards to make a trip.
