Ocassional stuck hatch

Featured Replies

My 95 Legacy suffers from an occasional stuck hatch where I cannot open the hatch from the outside. I try opening and closing the power locks and that sometimes works, but not always. What I do to fix it is to go drive around, and after I get back it opens without a problem. The lock only works on the drivers side, but I don't think it is an unlocking problem.

Does anyone else have this issue and how do you get around it?

Thanx,

Pete

Your locking mechanism is rusted and the return spring that pulls the handle back towards the car after you open the hatch is no longer strong enough to do its thing. Permanent cure : replace part of the mechanism or clean and lubricate. Temporary cure : push on the hatch handle BEFORE unlocking, unlock and then pull et voilà.
