regularman
I have read a lot of posts here about converting to a weber carburetor for more power, etc. Just looking through a bunch of my old junk from when I used to work with Ford pinto 2000s and 2300s, I found the Holly 5200 to give me the best performance for anything close to a stock situation. I think I may have a Weber or two down at my dads with some more parts, but what makes the Weber so special on Subarus? I quit trying to build the untimate hotrod 4 cyl Pinto 15-20 years ago, but kept most of the junk. The main problem with them was a big cam breaks timing belts and leaves you stranded . Also I went to England for a couple years in the Airforce and found out that they were lightyears ahead with getting power out of those engines. I have just done my first rebuild on an EA81 and rebuilt the carter/webber single barrel that was on it. It looked fine for that motor, I don't think that intake could handle much more even with a bigger carb adapted to it. Hey, somewhere I got some Individual carbs for a Ford 1600 with little velocity stack tunnels and the screens(no filters) and all. I wonder What these would do on a 1.8 soob motor. subynut
I second that! Use the hitachi 2 barrel intake.
