Midwst
If my Subaru, heaven forbid, skids off the road into a ditch and I want it pulled out, on most cars this is no big deal. But I am wondering, if the tow truck puts a wench on my subaru and drags it out, will this ruin the transmission? Is there anyway to pull a Subaru out of a ditch without damaging the tranny? Andyjo
put it in neutral....? we've dragged my subi all over the place, up hills, down dirt roads, sideways out of a snow bank... never seemed to have any problems?
JT95
If all you are doing is having it pulled from a ditch, then you'll be okay. Just put 'er in neutral and let the tow dude pull your Sube out. A short move like that will be okay. Now, if you are actually having the car towed somewhere, hauled on a flatbed is the only way to go.
soobmater
ya if it is just a short distance you should be ok.

sregor13
thanks guys. If it is a Manual it can be towed in Nuetral, any distance. If it is an Automatic then it should is should be towed on a flatbed. But like the others mentioned it wont hurt it for short distances like that.
