Guest Shemaryahu
I know this has been discussed before, but after reading through the archives, I still have no clue regarding the approximate costs or work needed to perform this swap. I just purchased an 86 XT GL off eBay which I will be picking up and driving home in a week or so (once all the paperwork is settled). I currently have a 93 Legacy L FWD with a 5MT in it that is basically a parts car (the cost of fixing the Legacy is more than it's blue book value, so I said screw this and bought the XT). The engine and tranny in the Legacy are in great shape. Since I already have the complete car, how much work/money would I be looking at to swap the engine and tranny from the Legacy into the XT? Keep in mind that I would have to go to a shop to get all this work done. Regards, Greggory

DMX
Hey Greggory, I'm loking to do the same exact thing, except my EJ22 tranny is shot and I am putting into a 90 4WD Loyale, keeping the Loyale transmission. Let me know what you find out. daudi@durango.net DMX

88HatchMonster
OMG. I wish a mod would lock this... It's a resurrected 3 year old thread (posted before there was a retrofitting forum). DMX, the EJ-EA swap is very common now. Please do a search for EJ22+EA82+swap. You need an adapter plate to swap in an EJ and keep your Loyale tranny. I sell the adapter plates. Contact me if you need one.
