chef_tim
My dealer's service tec read the code for my CEL for me and it is the Knock sensor. I picked it up today and I'm going to install it this weekend. Is there anything I should know/do/or concider before going at this??? Will I need to "reset" the computor?? This is the very first thing I've ever done on a new gen 'Ru, so any help will be greatly appriciated. Thanks, Tim
hklaine
There are quite a few threads on this, one being here. A friend of mine replaced his recently and the code cleared on its own, but it can't hurt to clear it. Good to see you in the NewGen Forum. I moved over about 18 months ago. -Heikki

chef_tim
Okay, so I've got it done. Not a bad job at all, just one of those spots that are made for small japanese hands:lol: . It seems to run alot better now, but the CEL is still on. Will the computer need to be reset to get the light to go off? If I do need to what is this OBD Scan Tool? Thanks again, Tim
hklaine
I think (I have heard) you can clear it by disconnecting the battery overnight (?), but am not certain on that. I do it with my OBDII tool AutoZone stores will read codes for free, so if you have one close ask them to read/clear it for you. -Heikki
Setright
Well, even the ODBII cars still have the famous green and black connectors underneath the steering wheel. Connect both, ignition to ON, full throttle, back off to half throttle for a few seconds, then start the engine and drive the car. You may need to get above a certain road speed, but not always. At some stage the CEL will flash at a steady rate, that's the "all clear" signal. If it doesn't do this, then something else is still wrong.
