Carbed...K&N...and....hood scoop???

Recommended Posts

I am planning on getting a stock K & N filter, and was wondering about sticking some holes in the air cleaner cover, and then maybe a small hood scoop.

Have any of you ever done this and or have a opinion?

Not really interested in putting on a weber.

My goal is a a little better preformance.

On the 86 EA82 Wagon...4x4...."old speed"

The K&N will help, the holes in the filter cover will help, but a scoop would do almost nothing. Would look cool tho.

I cut a huge chunk out of the side of my filter lid on my carbbed EA81. I noticed a small difference.

The weber is the best way to go.

so drillin holes in your filter lid will help give some power? i assume not very much but i think i will do this. is there a special place you drill the holes or does it matter? i dont have enough money to buy a weber. icon9.gif

Drill it on the outside edge of the lid. That way the filter is still sealed. You wouldnt want to drill holes in the center of the lid, cause that way unfiltered air would be able to enter the carb.

If you dont want to buy a weber, you can do a 2bbl mod to the 2bbl hitachi's. I did it, and i think i have a write-up somewhere on it.

i dont have a k&n but i have a hood scoop

itdosnt really do much for ram-air effect, but it dose work as a cold air intake.

i used 4" drier hose to duct it in and cut out the back side of the can
