s'ko
This is an EA81 fwd wagon stuck in 4th. Reverse seems to work ok, but it will not go out of 4th. Clutch seems fine as RPMS will reduce when the clutch pedal is released. I need to move it about 30 miles, mostly freeway to it's final resting spot. Any tips. One friend suggested that I use to starter to get it moving and then modulate the clutch. I also thought about using my BRAT to push it until it got up to speed. azsubaru
You might make it. I downshifted my loyale to 3rd one day and the transmission locked up, lots of screeching tires, etc., and would only move in 5th. With lots of smoke, the smell of burned clutch, and some luck with the traffic lights, I got it home, about 20 miles, almost all flat ground. 4th should be a piece of cake! good luck to you if you try it. Sweet82
I'd tow it with the Brat. I think you'd have some problems getting it to 4th gear speed off starter motors and burned clutches. Get a long tow strap and tow it. Freeway towing is smooth. Just keep reloading... Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
75subie
strap towin is pretty easy when you get the hang of it.just always keep tension on the rope so it doesn`t hit.have the rear driver do most of or all of the braking.then when stopped, have the front guy inch up until go. or....you probly could make it home in 4th stopping as little as possible.you could just have someone else take the brat to give you a little push at stop lights. Good Luck! -Jon
s'ko
Thanks for the input. I have a buddy coming with me who drove the BRAT back when he got the tranny stuck in 4th gear. We are leaving at 6:00 am so traffic should be super light. I will be behind him to give him a little push on the on ramps and lights. I secured the place to perform the "surgery" Patient is going under for compete organectomy. Need the motor for the BRAT and I figure whatever else I can stuff into the garage for storage. Then its out with the sawzall and the angle grinder and ZZZZ zZZZZZ... into pieces she goes. I know, a sad fate for a wagon, but, anything to keep the BRAT alive right? Will take pics of the whole procedure. BW BTW anyone need any EA81 parts let me know. EA81 GL wagon. Bad tranny.
