Andyjo
So my rear windshied whiper wasn't working, for about 2 years. Today i got determined and descided to attack my hatch and fix this problem. After ripping out off the trim & pretty stuff i couldn't figure out what the problem was, poped out the motor, it works fine. So then i started testing wires... I discovered that 3 out of the 4 wires going to the wiper motor were not working. Now wouldn't you have guessed, i poped out the little rubber wire covering thing inbetween the hatch and body, and what did i find?! lots of broken wires! and some more wires getting ready to break (broken coating & stuff.) So 9 new wire segments, and 18 sodders later i had a working windshield wiper in the rear. I checked the other side, and found that the tube for the washer fluid was also broken (i'll fix it tomorrow). SOOO what's the moral of this story? If you have ~150k on your car, and it spends alot of time in the cold (-20F) you might get some broken wires in those links! I hope this helps out someone who can's figure out why their electrical stuff on the hatch isn't working. (Brake light, windshield wiper, defroster, etc..).
