I think I just toasted the input shaft on my auto trannie

Featured Replies

Just finished putting it all back together and turned it over only to here it struggle while making the sound of teeth being worn off.

I checked the torque converter, heard it click and it felt right too.

I'm sooo angry!:banghead:

Now to undo everything and see the damage done. This sucks.

5-speed swap time!

But seriously, if you've gotta take it all apart anyway... they're oh so much better than an automatic.

Sorry to hear about that man. It happens though! A friend of mine just got a built C4 tranny upto his 351w in a 69 mustang mach1. First time around the block the tranny eats itself due to an improper install of the torque converter and flex plate :(

Good luck!

The front pump drive gears suck on these. I stacked a pump about 4 yrs ago. It is replaceable but a huge pain. If the drive gear is broken you can get a used one from just about any trans rebuild shop for cheap or free(in my case).

I'm going to wait until tomorrow to pull the trannie and see what the damage is, I feel like I'm 6 and was just told there's no santa. I've learned that sometimes it's just better to leave things alone when your feeling pissy.

Seems fitting that this car is Rianna's and not mine, I"ll spare cursing myself by saying something stupid "like mine would never cause this much headache" even if it is true.

I just used the HIAB on the 5 ton to move a car around the yard, I can't wait to use it for pulling motors lol.

guy over at http://www.xt6.net didn't seat his torque converter properly on his 4EAT when installing it and toasted his trans oil pump shaft i think. whatever he did he fixed it and i believe posted some information about fixing it over there.
