gotime242
Hello. I was just curious about soemthing. My car doesnt have any timming belt covers. And i think there is a mark on them that you center the cam gear "dot" with when installing timming belts. What can you do if they are not there? Can you use the line where the valve cover comes in contact with the head? Thanks!
hooziewhatsit
yea, I believe you can do it that way. The important thing is to get them pointing directly up (doesn't help if the car is on a slanted driveway, like mine )
singletrack
That's how I did mine.

MilesFox
yes, you line up the dot with the valve cover gasket seam. this example is used in the timing belt article here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2648 have fun with the missing belt covers it really will make any work much easier! pyromanic
Yes, timing belt covers are stoopid. Burn them. On the other hand, the are fun to nail to a tree and shoot with a 45. This has been the best use of mine I have found. Pyro
