Subaru_dude
i replaced my transmission mounts to get rid of an annoying squeaking noise coming from under the car. I drove it after I got em in, no difference. Still made that annoying noise. After more proding around under the car, I think my gear linkage is tapping/scratching against the driveshaft. Why would it be doing this?
heep70
Could it be a u-joint?
bgd73
There may be a cover nearly over front u-joint (if its the 1987 i see in your post). wiggle stuff around, it looks like a cup coming out of back of tranny over drivershaft. My 87 soob did the noise when yoke, cap and berring loosened up.I also had a "trick" exhaust pipe that barely touched the driveshaft at sound resignator when hot, and also when all 4 tires were not the same. Those pesky noises...... For what it's worth, (not much) that cover thingy you speak of is a "grease slinger". Pyro
bgd73
break a yoke, and you'll find its more than that!
Subaru_dude
may be a dumb question but..... what's a yoke?
bgd73
holds the universal at the cap and pin berrings underneath it.
