Northern New England/NY,etc. Meet???

Recommended Posts

The unofficial, kick the can around post.

Let's get some ideas and dates tossed around.

So far it's looking like mid September.Let's beat the leaf peepers.

So far Burke Mtn.,VT has been mentioned.

I'm hoping we can get an offroading spot for those of us willing to go in.Like the Pine Barrens Meets, you can always leave you car in a lot and go in as a passenger with a fellow Subathusiast.Let's make sure we ca find a place to suit parking and pleasure. Are we 100% sure there's auto trails near Burke?

Wife wants to go camping & hiking, but we don't have any bikes. If we take her OBW, we won't be doin' any offroading, but I'd be glad to ride along (maybe her, too). If we take my OBW, I wouldn't mind doing some light offroading. I have no idea if there's any offroading trails 'round there, though.

Sept. 10th and 11th would be best, since we'll be looking to camp from the 9th to the 12th, and it gives us a couple days alone :brow:.

Once a date is set, I am all for going. the Kingdom trails are the best! I helped build one of them that goes right near the campground. My wagon will be rolling by then, so thats seats for 3 extras offroad. I will have some sort of bike rolling. My luck with bikes is not good. I snapped the seatpost off my Jamis, and then I snapped 3 spokes and streched the rest a month ago in the backwheel. It'll take some resuskitation to get it going again... But count me In.

Keeping the thread alive.

September? Everyone in agreeance?

Send a PM to anyone you know in NH, VT, NY area.

Anyone know the name of the local motor club? I know there's one up there, they were holding a hillclimb event when I was up there.

Doing a run just to see what our cars can do would be cool. Probably a fee or becoming a member deal.

Everyone bringing a Mtn. bike? The area trails are 110% worth it. single tracks through trees with berms, doesn't get much better than that. AND a local bike shop.

Research 4x4 trails in the area. I'm bringing my wagon, so there should be some off-road action.

Who's in?

Apologies to anyone I just kinda spammed. Be aware each was individual and hand typed. I never come by the Meet greet section so I figured that it would be a good heads up. And if you're readin this, it worked. So throw out some dates that would work.

I'm in, just gimme a date and time, and place. September sounds good, much better than August. And don't forget those people over in Maine! (are there any on the forums?... do they get the internet? :D )

My OBS should be lifted by then, so i'm game for some thrashing through the woods with it.

I'm almost definite to go.

Not sure I'll bike, but I'll find somewhere to fish with my son if you guys take off for a while.

I'll ask my friend about Burke's hillclimb and any motorclub associated with it.

Swimming might be a little cool the later we make it in September.

I know we still have Milt in Maine, wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy out east.THere was a guy with a Kawi green lifted Brat appropriately named "ZRBrat" for the Kawi ZR color.

ummmm... is there a hotel handy? Camping makes me queasy, hard ground, bugs and such.

According to Connie's dessert email, I can't walk and chew gum at the same time, so forget biking for me. Hiking I can do, well, sans gum.

How about I take Noel's wife out for a little lunch and shopping? That would work for me!

Hey Devan, get Slice to come along too, he'll surely invoke a bit of spirit... yikes! Bring extra axles, tires, crash helmet, medical insurance card, bail money... j/k

Seriously, it sounds like fun... come up with a date and a website for the town.

whoo hoo, the spamming worked. I will never do that again though. Lotsa typing. Dirtbiking I know isn't alowed ont he kingdom trails, but I'm sure someting could be found. Good to have awareness of an upcoming meet. Thanks for cheking ont he hill climb moosens.

They have them half open shed thingys for campin in at eh campground, adn firepits. So your sleeping on a wood floor, not the ground. Coin op showers (hot) and water spigots. Decent campground.

Gash dang it... I may have ta show just to meet some of the fine people from this site in person. Maybe I'll bring Spot (cancer victim) and fake like it's lifted!

Seahag.. I'm not real familiar w/ East Burke, but being in the Kingdom you may have a tough time finding much for shopping. Can always just cruise a enjoy scenery, and there's gotta be tons of back/dirt roads that any soob w/air in it's tires wouldn't even notice.

Moosens has the right idea about swimming in the Kingdom in September. Can you say S-H-R-I-N-K-A-G-E!!!

As I said, I'll stay tuned.

Cheers all!!!

I would be willing to piece together multiple mtn. bikes for anyone interested. Nothing special or really rugged, but wheels to get you into the woods. Prerequests for rolling bikes would be nice, then I can start finding parts.

Good point on the swimming. Mabe fishing would help prevent pneumonia.

Month: September

Days: some weekend. the earlier in the month the better for the weather.

Location: East Burke VT

I'll start looking for links to things in the area, and put them up as I find them.

I will be in wyoming for 2 weeks starting tomorrow, so I may or may not have internet acess.

Looking at the areal photo, see the road going north out of town?

on the left hand side, there is a baseball dimond. Right by the baseball diamond is a parking lot. There is a cemetary across the street.

Should the parking lot be the meeting point on the first day?

Moosens. How tall are you? just for sizing the bike. It will be a beaten POS, but it will work well enough. It only has to last the weekend. My bike is also a really beaten POS, except with lots of expensive broken parts, so you're not going to get the short end of the stick. Anyone else need a bike?

The more bikes stacked on the roof of the wagon, the louder it will whistle, and keep the deer away!
