EA81T problems

Recommended Posts

I'm new to the board and still new to subarus, My first is an 84' Turbo coup (Black). It has one of the digital dashes that all works, Automatic trany which is being swaped out for an RX trany that I picked up.

Well what I know is as follows...

-Fuel pump dose not kick on as far as I can tell

-It will start if I spray starter fluid down its throat

-It will turn over and the coil dose have spark

The problem is it wont fire on its own, I checked the ECU (or ECS) and it is giveing me codes 11 (which i cant remember what the book said it is rght now sorry) and 12 "starter switch remanes in the off position."

Any help you could give me I would be verry greatfulf cause i want my baby to RUN!

Welcome.

The ea81t computer will show codes 11 and 12 when the ignition switch is in the on position and the engine is not running. Thats normal.

If your fuel pump isnt going, plug in the green connector near the computer and check for voltage at the pump. it should pulse on and off with that connector connected.

Thanks for the info on the codes from the ECU.

Now i connected the two green connectors under the dash and the fuel pump just dosent kick on at all...And their is a senser of some kind under the passanger seat that wont stop clicking even when the green connecters are pluged in or not.

So if anyone couyld give me some info on what the senser under the seat dose and why my fuel pump wont kick on I would be verry greatfull.

Ok, I too am new to FI turbo but i am trying my damnedest to help Bunker (FAT).

Ok ross, you said "The ea81t computer will show codes 11 and 12 when the ignition switch is in the on position and the engine is not running. Thats normal.

"

I have an 84 turrbo wagon and my ecu does not do this,

Ok when we connect the green wires the fuel pump on my car turns on and off, The coupe does not.

Now there is a realay under the passenger seat that clicls continuos with or without the green wire plugged in,

Anyway, the biggest problem we have is the fuel pump issue.

Might anyone know if the relay under the passenger seat be associated with that fuel pump, Or where the fuel pump relay is.

Also i might add when we got this car the main harness had cought fire and we replaced it with one out of another 84 turbo wagon, everything to my knowlage is plugged in.

Any help at this point would be very appreciated

It should, codes 11 and 12 are normal w/the engine stopped.

Are you able to read ANY codes on the wagon?

Sounds like a wonky ECU.Code 11 should show anytime ignition pulses are absent.

The 2 relays under the pass. seat are the ignition and fuel pump relays. They should not be cycling unless the test connector is connected.Try swapping relays from the running car.
