EJ 22 into Wonder Brumby (1986 Brat)

I have looked at the Ej18 heads, they are too restrictive.

Yes the compression would have been great but I am getting it another way.

The battery is going behing the co-pilots seat and a toyota 1GG blower is going to be feeding the horses.

I am gambling that the legendary EJ22 will hold up to 6-8psi of boost with loads of LPG thrown in as well!

Nice cold condensing gas, heap of octane, Aghhh ha ha ha ha (evil laugh)!

I have all the bits now its just a matter of putting it all together.

The only 4 wheel dyno in Tasmania is booked for the 12th of Jan. Deadline day.

(normally $230 per hour, I am getting it for $115 per hour).

I just have to run it lean for the 150km trip down and hope not to backfire the bad boy.

I am looking for 200hp.

Wish me luck, I will need the Gods of Head Gaskets on my side.

It was my understanding that it takes something like 2x the LPG to do the same work as gasoline, maybe it's changed in recient years?

Do you get as good or possibly better mileage with LGP as with gasoline?

Also,I have to ask :brow: ... in your sig, the "Cheers Big Ears" line ... is that a refrence to Prince Charles?:lol:

I use about 1/6th more volume of fuel per 100km than gasoline would.

Big deal!

Its a bit over 1/2 the price and full of yummy octane.

Cheers big ears is a part of a long drinking toast which goes along the the lines of.....

Here's cheers to pioneers, buccanneers and engineers, (continues with more eers) and then slamming of glasses on table and a resounding CHEERS BIG EARS! at the end.

Monstaru- go for it, PM me for help if you run into troubles.

The engine mounts are made from 4 EA82 ones, i cut and overlapped then welded them up. they needed to be about 40mm longer. and you will need to twist them in a big vice, just a little bit.

i just got my hands on a ej sohc distributor and carburetor setup that was last run on a ej22 in a jetboat.

ej18 'real' disty, carb and carb intake manifold (and fuel pump, coil etc)

now i just gotta find a sohc ej20 or 22 (ej18 as last resort)

Hey LPGschB, where did you find that bad boy??

Is it electronic?

You better get a blower back on the ute or I am stealing your user name!!

I beleive I will be the only one in the world as of saturday.

Matt, did you have to space your crossmember down so the intake manifold would clear the bonnet?

i just read a ea to ej thread on AUsubaru and it was talking about having to put spacers in to lower the enginemount crossmember 25mm

No I had no dramas at all.

It will be another issue all together when I try to squeeze this blower and pipework in!!

How much was that disty ?

I am sick of points ignition allready...I want bigger spark!

Can you get another?

Cheers,

Matt.

hey Matt, did you get it all to work.......what was the dyno results if ya did?

Hy LPGSB, its in a holding pattern right now.

The Wonder Brumby is super reliable at the moment and it's my daily driver ( only car).

I need to pour about 20 hours into it and work is not giving me much time to do it.

Plus.... I have found the hull for my jet boat project!!!

14 foot aluminIum dinghy, + 120hp twin port EA81 + colorado single stage jet = a slightly insane fishing boat for estuary and river fishing.

And renovating the house!

I need to clone myself.
