TheCorkans
Hey everybody, great to join! This is our first post! Our 2001 Outback, 4 cylinder, has been very erratic. The pedal is unresponsive at times, and at other times the engine surges. Driving is very unpleasant at any speed and gear. Shifting to Neutral does not effect the engine surging. Using our Digimoto reader I got the following code: Category=Powertrain Name=P0172 Description=Fuel Trim too Rich (Bank 1) The TPS and O2 sensor are reading correctly. I have replaced the ignition coil pack and had the plugs and wires replaced. I have also run fuel injection cleaner and water removal additive in the last 4 tanks and no improvement. Now I am considering the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator... Any advice is greatly appreciated! Cheers!
Legacy777
automatic or manual tranny? I'd do the fuel filter. It sounds more electrical then mechanical, and the pump and regulator usually don't fail
Eikari
Check the tightness of the spark plugs.
Cougar
Maybe there is something going on with the air intake system.
