subieman
Ok, what causes the coolant to foam up? I've been having cooling issues with my 1986 Ea82. Today I warmed her up with the radiator cap off and when I would rev the motor up the coolant turns into a milky color. First thing I think of is the water pump. Would a bad pump cause cavitation? Or maybe a leaky Head gasket? Help! Thanks,

The foam is caused by an air leak into the system. The one thing that can cause this is a blown head gasket, with the damaged part of the head being near an oil passage. TheSubaruJunkie
This is the next step. It goes from coolant, to foam.... to I'd say its a head gasket thats gone bad, that would account for the overheating as well. Have you checked your oil as well? Might want to drain it and see if its milky or foamy as well. -Brian
subieman
ohh.... dang :-\ Alright, that was my fear. The oil is fine and no white smoke. Oh well, time for some more work on the subies.
