calebz
Change all fluids.. if you don't know the maitanence history, then change the timing belts, waterpump and any seals that might be leaking. check the radiator.. overheating is the number one killer for old soobs Performance?.. c'mon man you bought a 90hp car..Better exhaust, better intake..Carbed? Put a weber on it. Those things will help snap it up a bit.. Lighten the flywheel.. but it will never be fast .. you want more performance, sell it and buy a turbo model.. even those are just.. well.. kinda quick. But yeah.. talk to andy.. He seems to be pretty good with these things and he's in your neck of the woods.
pianodirt
MorganM- How do you put LEDs into the map lights? Do you just solder on some red LEDs...what kind (radio shack part no.?) will work and are bright enough?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo
Some time Passed by with that Question unanswered... Things have Changed a Li`l Bit; Now is Easy to Obtain Led Bulbs for Almost any Need, in Any Shape, Very Bright and with any Connection Base. No Need to do anything to the Car`s Wires / Lamps \ connection, just "Plug & Play" I Obtained Led Bulbs for my Subie`s Corner White Lights (side the Headlamps) at "V Leds" ... Also they`re at many Places, even at Amazon. Top Ten Things To Do when.... you pick up a 1986 GL Wagon? Beside Change All Fluids, Check each Wheel`s Brakes & Bearings, Check for Rust... the First I`ll Do is to Change the Timin` Belts + its Tensioneers Ball Bearings... The Dude Abides
Ok top 10 things for various reasons. 1 When you do replace a part, you almost always want oem 2 Check Belts, Hoses, Plugs, Wires, Oil, etc etc give it a good lookover. Or if your to lazy to do that some local shops do a used car inspection where they give your vehicle your planning to purchase a good lookover to see what it needs. 3 If its an auto kiss any type of performance goodbye, do a 5speed swap 4 Your going to be asking to either lower it or lift it. Its easier to lift but you can lower but takes more finess. 5 Your going to be asking for wheel and tire upgrades. NO aftermarket support for these babies. Pugs or 5 lug conversion. 6 Things like Tick O Death, or Axel Clicking will become second language. 7 They rust like crazy so be careful and keep a watch out for it. 8 Make sure its 4wd otherwise whats the point. 9 You want to put in a subaru wrx sti motor. yea you can, these cars are like legos. 10 This is a family and you will learn it very shortly. People on here will look out for you and make sure you dont get bumb advise. I dont even go to mechanics anymore i do what i can buy myself. Folks on here will help you, just be respectful and keep it clean. AND FOR GOD SAKES, post some pics:grin:
