beauregaardhooligan
moshem, the 2 way valve relieves excess pressure from the gas tank by venting gas vapors to the charcoal cannister, or allows fresh air into the tank when it gets cold. If you're sure you don't have the cannister then the valve is doing nothing. I suspect you could plug those line without a problem, but make sure you have a vented gas cap. beauregaardhooligan
I'm pretty sure. Why did you replace the lines? Did it run before? Does it run now? If it runs, I'd leave it be. That valve is part of the emission control system, and designed to let the canister store gas fumes until they're sucked into the carb. Otherwise the fumes are vented to the atmosphere, not good for the enviroment. But... if you don't have the canister, then the valve is useless. You said it's broke, so it's probably not functioning anyway. As for the gas lines, you could connect them together or plug them off as long as your gas cap is vented. PoorManzImpreza
if by broken you mean it just had a hose hooked to it, but not connected to anything else that is how it came from the factory in L-series cars without evaporative emissions...ie there's nothing wrong with your cars fuel plumbing
moshem74
this valve have 2 connction points, one up and one down, the upper is connecting to the fuel lines, the down is not conecting to no where. whan i mean broken, i mean = the down part of this 2 way valve its like missing par, just the down part of it, also i took it out and no fuel is there..... what do you say? PoorManzImpreza
My car is like you describe yours; '..this valve have 2 connction points, one up and one down, the upper is connecting to the fuel lines, the down is not conecting to no where..' So is EVERY carburetted L-series imported to Barbados (my home) by our local dealer, what you describe is NORMAL.. this is how the car came from the factory if it didn't have evaporative emissions (charcoal canister).. Do not be concerned by this in the slightest..
beauregaardhooligan
Thanks, PoorManImprezza! moshem, although they are fuel lines, they don't carry fuel, only fuel vapor.
