Custom AEM cold air intake

Recommended Posts

Well I finally got the fenderwell cut out for the intake I got from an '01 WRX. The full AEM cai kit I picked up for 60 bucks and also came with a K&N cleaning kit as well. There is one section I couldn't use since it one, held the stock MAF for the WRX and two, made everything extremely long so it wouldn't fit also. So I used the piece that goes into the fender with the filter on it and got it all mounted too. I then used about $100 worth of 4 ply silicone hoses and some aluminum tubing as well. I got it all in but I still need to make some minor adjustments of everything and get it all cleaned up nicely. Here are the links to the pics...

I will be putting the stock splash tin back on to protect the filter but I didn't get to it before I took the pics.

well all of my blue silicone hoses I THINK are right. I looked at my buddy's '87 turbowagon to get some sort of idea on how they go. I'm also plumbing in the solenoid for my EBC so I'm still a little confused on where everything should go.

ew.... i got a 3" mandrel bent U shaped pipe from summit for ~$20. im gonna have that chopped in half, and ill put my cone filter on the end where the stock airbox resonator used to be. i should be clear of the fluid resevoir. looks to be a tight fit as far as the turndown from the MAF. i suppose its hard to make a short radius bend with 3" pipe. my main concerns now are supporting the pipe, and trying to ensure that i wont suck water in.
