Do It Sidewayz
what lug nuts are people using with their Pug wheels?? i managed to find a couple sets of these things today. A set of steelies that do look like aftermarket wheels, and a set of alloys. It looks like Pug used larger wheel studs. probably 5/8" and almost looks like they use a 45 degree taper instead of the 60. what are people using? the sucker king
it totally depends which pug wheels you've got. some work w/ subaru lugs, some don't. find your wheels on this page: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/wheels2/wheels.html and i'm sure somebody could tell you what you need. northguy
I use standard lug nuts on the steelies, and Pug lug nuts on the alloys.
FirstSubaruGLwagon
If in doubt,,,, take one of your "nuts" to the auto parts store and buy 4 sets of shinny new mag nuts.. then you will have new "nuts" and the girls will love you... :-p
Do It Sidewayz
well. these are the alloys and these are the steelies
northguy
Both sets are the same I am running. Regular lug nuts work fine on the steelies, but the mags require Pug nuts. If you find a suitable replacement, let us know.
thealleyboy
The problem with the alloy type nuts is that they are so uncommon. You will not be able walk into your local parts store and find these. I had a b*tch of a time finding a set for mine (thanks Chef Tim!!) Before finding my set, I had considered drilling out the holes and going with a universal mag-type lug nut (with washer). You could probably do this on your workbench if you have a brand new bit, and a steady hand. Having a machine shop drill them out would be even better. As far as the steels, you would have many choices - both OEM and aftermarket. good luck, John
chef_tim
http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31201&highlight=doorman That's what I've done on two of mine. Never had a problem. Tim
Do It Sidewayz
So the stock Peugoet wheel nuts will work??? i may be able to get a set of these off the guy i'm getting the wheels from. failing which i might just get the steelies. or are you saying if i go to Longer wheel studs i will have no problem with the lugs?? and can use the factory subaru jobbies? northguy
The alloys are such that the recesses are canted, they are sloped and the pug lug nuts have washers that are the same angle as the recess in the bolt hole. Hope that clears things up.
Do It Sidewayz
weird....when i went to pick up these wheels. i asked buddy about the lug nuts. So he takes me over and shows me this entire drawer full of Pug lug nuts....so i take a look inside....IDENTICAL to the ones i'm using right now. says they have NO problem with them at all. northguy
Ask what he wants for the drawer full. You could sell them in no time, if they are the ones with the washers attached.
