SLudwig
This morning the heater blower fan wouldn't come on ... any speed. I figured the relay or fuse had gone out, but during my commute it came on and worked fine, all speeds. Another connector going bad? Where to look? Thanks, Scott
Legacy777
So it didn't work at all, not even on hi? The hvac push button thing is known to have bad solder joints, which causes the flapper door that directs air to do nothing. I haven't necessarily heard of issues with the fan motor. One possibility could be the resistor pack. It's located in the evaporator box right behind the glove box.
SLudwig
It did it again this morning so when I got to work I crawled under the dash and began exploring. I found the relay for the fan (which stopped working about this time) and started tapping on it with a wrench. On ... off ... on ... off ... sure enough this was the culprit. I took it out and apart and since everything seemed clean and functioning, the only thing I could figure might be some oxidation on the contact (which I couldn't see the surface of) so I worked on it with some emery then crocus cloth. I reinstalled it and started tapping again and couldn't get it to shut off. Hopefully tomorrow morning (and hence thereafter) it won't cause any more problems. Cougar
Good sluthing SLudwig. Thanks for the feedback. I forget about the relay being in the circuit also. Always want to blame the resistors or the motor for these problems. Tain't neccessarily so.
