ptrent
Hello everyone this is my first post here. I have a 93 Legacy awd auto that is slipping in reverse, it shifts fine in the forward gears. I have searched the forums and read about brake band adjustment. I was wondering if adjusting this band would possibly improve the reverse problem. The trans has 172K on it and is due a fluid change. Thanks for any and all help that is offered.
lmdew
My son's 93 Turbo wagon does the same thing. I have not found a fix yet. The fluid change/flush had no effect. It works when cold, so I do not think its the clutch pack.
Hondasucks
Try manual first gear, if it slips there, it is the low/reverse band or clutch (Must use manual first, since in drive first it uses a one-way clutch instead of a band for first gear) if it does not slip there but slips in third gear, then it is the high-reverse band/clutch (I say band or clutch since some transmissions use a multifriction clutch and others use a band. If I remember correctly, at least on the three speed, the low/reverse is a band and the intermediate is a multi-friction clutch.)
