DPDISXR4Ti
What's the rated maximum haul weight for a Brat? Half ton? What's the most anyone has actually carried in one? I carried a "half load" of logs yesterday - probably about 1000 pounds. I would have carried more, but I was concerned that I was over the limit as it was. The tired ol' 1.8 agreed, as did the suspension. Good thing I didn't have to travel on the highway - I'm not sure I could have carried any significant speed up a hill. Syrinx
1 YD of Barkdust. came to the top of the cab. Ya it sat prety low. Kurt
Sweet82
I thought it said it was rated for #350? Which would be the weight of two people in the back. This would make sense if the suspension is the same as the other models. Don't quote me on that! archemitis
my cousin drove up from texas(to minnesota 900 miles) in a brat, and the rear end was sitting on the bump stops the whole way.. a full standup toolbox 400lbs? and everything else he owned. went 85 the whole way, with a 4 speed. dont think you can overload them, once they are on the bumpstops, its all about how good your tires are
bushbasher
isn't one of the purposes of the adjustable suspension to handle heavier loads?
GeneralDisorder
The rated cargo capacity of a Brat (Directly from owners manual): "For the Brat, the maximum carrying capacity consists of two passengers in cab, two passengers in rear and 113 kg (250 lb) of cargo or any combination of passengers and cargo not to exceed 386 kg (850 lb). Do not use the vehicle as a cargo carrier." That should about take care of it. BTW - if you exceed these limits, you will wear out wheel bearings and shocks, and there is a possiblity of breaking the torsion bar in the rear. GeneralDisorder
The adjustable suspension is for more clearance, not heavier loads. GD
DPDISXR4Ti
Well, I definetley exceeded 850 lbs, but it was a 2 mile drive, so no harm I suppose. But I hate to think what would happened if I hit a pot hole! Brad
