sregor13
Hi I just converted and refilled the AC on my Loyale in hopes that I would get cold air. I didnt. The compressor is making a funny noise. I want to put the compressor out of my 87 GL in there. How do I discharge the AC in my current system so that I can remove the Compressor? Thanks
NoahDL88
there are a number of problems with discharging the ac system. 1, venting the refrigerant into the atmosphere is not good for the enviroment 2, to get a good charge you need to evacuate all the naturally occuring air out of the system, somthing that you can't do unless you have the machine that sucks out the air 3, if you leave it open too long the accumilator/dryer will absorb water like those "do not eat" packets you get in shoes and stuff like that. when that gets wet it will render it useless. that said, you can just pull the schraeder valve, use one from the valve stem on your car and you should be fine, just be careful about not breathing in the R-12 or the R-134a
Cougar
I would have a shop do the job. It is against the law to vent the refridgerant to the atmosphere and they can reuse the refridgerant and put it back in the system. They can also clean out the old oil and vacuum out the system.
