romcat
Hey Listers" Hey what are people paying for MAF Sensors out there. How about O2 sensors. Lastly I probably need to replace the Gas Vapor Cannister. Any place this can be gotten except Subaru? Thanks, Gareth
MorganM
$8 at local junkyard for MAF. Not running an O2 sensor. Vapor Can should be fine; what indicates it's failing?
PopsicleMud
I just got a Bosch universal fit O2 sensor for about $22. The only difference between the universal sensor and the OEM sensor from Bosch is that the OEM one comes with a Subaru connector on it and you have to crimp on the universal one. MorganM
your not running an o2 sensor? .. thats not good. It's not that bad either. O2 sensor on the SPFI isnt that important of a component.
TurboSPFI
wrong... OBD 1 doesnt have a comprehensive mode for missing sensors or extremely false inputs. By having no o2 sensor.. your gonna be stuck in safe mode.
PopsicleMud
Having a good O2 sensor seems to have a big impact. By changing mine, I've almost completely eliminated pinging on big hills and improved my gas mileage. I'll have to go through a few more tanks to get a firm measurement, but my gas mileage seems to have gone up by as much as 5 MPG.
MorganM
I didnt say it was completly pointless. I said it works fine with out it on my SPFI. Do I get worse milage? Yes. Does it still run fine? Yes. Do I care? No. I lost more than 5MPG with big tires; I don't drive my Subaru because it gets awsome milage.
