93legacyman
I've taken my 93 impreza 1.8L to a mechanic friend to see about getting the timing belt & front crank seal replaced. He says there are actually two timing belts and that he'd need a special tool to replace them. Can anyone tell me if he's correct, or perhaps has looked up the wrong car or model. I know the 85 wagon I had once had a dual timing belt...just wondering if the 93 impreza is the same way. Thanks for the replies!!
Legacy777
Your 1.8 liter only has one timing belt, and doesn't require a special tool It'll look very similar/same as this http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru/images/timingbelt/
ScoobyRu93
I know it has 2 drive belts.... Ihave the same car. Had them both replaced rather easily.
Dazed Dreamer
had the exact same job done to my 93 preza (with a 94 engine in it) still a 1.8L but yah only a single timing belt and no special tools were needed
SUBARU3
The Impreza 1.8 is an EJ motor. It is nearly identical to the 2.2. (also an EJ motor). The Timing belt parts and components are the same. The job is the same. The EA series 1.8, from earlier cars, is what you are confusing your Impreza with.
