todda1
Hey folks, just joined and I have some questions about my 92 Loayle. First off, I wanted to know where I could get a factory service manual for the car. I searched online and can only find the Chilton or Haynes manuals. I desperately need a good wiring diagram!!! What are the websites that I should be getting parts from? I put an alarm/ remote starter in the car and had a couple issues. Where do I hook up the negative output to guard the doors? I wired it to the driver pin, but only that door sets off the alarm. Another is about the domelight. It does not work when I open the doors... any of them. The light works by manually moving the lever (at the light), so I know it's getting power. I can get the dome light to activate when disarming the alarm... feeding the light ground through a relay. The pinswitches in the jambs, all look good, and I see that the "door open" sensors are working. I pulled the driver pin switch and found 2 orange wires soldered to it. One shows power when the pin is depressed and the other shows nothing... I'm assuming it's ground. Where in the car do all of the grounds meet to activate the light? TIA, Todd BTW, the way that this car is wired is insane. I've never owned a car where the wires change color after going into a connector!!! edrach
Search ebay for the factory service manual; amazing what you can sometimes find there. Also www.books4cars.com is a good source for FSMs. I can't help you out too much on the wiring, but I would suspect that you might have a faulty switch in your overhead light...it should be a 3 position switch; one for always on, one for always off, and one for on when the door is open. I think you're correct that the doorjamb switch is okay; I'd suspect the overhead light myself....pretty easy to replace if it is bad....easy to find at the local junkyard. ausubaru92
As far as i know, the door switches switch the negative. ie. Positive power from the ignition switch goes straight to the door lights on the dash, and the negative of these lights are switched by the door switches. The door lights on the dash are each connected to a diode behind the dash (the diodes allow 5 individual lights to feed one) which then connect to one point to feed the interior light with power. Hope this helps Gannon
amartin
I'm fairly new also, but can help in some areas: I will defer to those that have greater expertise in this area, but: I have had reasonable luck at geeting new/reman parts from RockAuto.com, as well as the local Advanced auto parts, and even Pep Boys for generic items. Some things like manifold studs and gaskets i'll buy at the dealer. Yeah - I know the wiring diagrams are weird.

Any idea where (behind the dash) I should be looking or for what color? Edrach, I tried ebay and didn't find anything for a FSM.... I'm seriously considering going to the dealership. Anybody know who publishes them? I'll test continuity at the switch, but the contacts look good. I may be running a new ground from behind the dash, to the light's connector in the passenger kick. Amartin, from your reply, it seems that you have a wiring diagram. Would you be able to e-mail me a copy or even fax it? Snail mail would also be an option.... I'd pay for your time and postage. Thanks for the replies! -Todd
