RX approaching 'ultimate' status....

in the next month...a full MS+EDIS system is going to be installed along with a really well engineered Air to Water Intercooler setup...I have 2 sets of hooisers...and a set of Khumos....so...3 sets of race tires.

 

Right now the car is doing well...getting 32.5+ MPG on the hwy, 24 city...making decent power for not having an IC...and the suspension is tuned in for the rest of the year. SuperPros installed...rideheights set, etc etc....

 

The car is just plain fast right now....and its only going to get faster. I'll do base dyno pulls before MSDIS...and after along with a MAP posted up for you guys....then I'll be making some 1/4 mile passes.

 

This winter Koni will be making some dampers for this thing and I'll step up the spring rates from 6.5k/7k to 10k/12k. Then...13x9 Diamond wheels.

 

Right now...Im in Topeka for Nationals...and bored to death in the hotel. Tuesday/wednesday I'll be in the STS 2.5 RS. :banana:

Ultimate is in the eye of the beholder Will. I have to say, it would be an ultimate RX if it had stock engine and actually produced power and lasted more than 10,000 miles.

 

I can't afford to play the EA82T game anymore. Especially when EJ20's are getting so damn cheap.

I never said I wasn't playing anymore... I just said I can't afford it :lol:

 

Will, I can't wait to be wow'd by what heights you take your RX to. And I don't mean at all for my remarks to sound discouraging.

 

Cheesy as it sounds... only you have to think of it as the Ultimate RX for it to be one. The rest of us really don't matter. Keep up the good fight, and make sometime to drive out to the west coast to visit sometime. Shots will be on me.

The blue RX that Corky built never ran as far as I know from just reading the board. And I have looked. Hard. It was spirited off by the new owner and never turned a wheel in anger.

 

As far as I know from reading this board. The rest is hear-say.

 

Phfft. Ultimate RX? Get me a sound clip and a small video of the Blue RX with the engine that could have been, sporting gold wheels and yellow lettering stepping sideways in the gravel and I'll call it the Ultimate RX.

 

I've read the posts about the car. I am speaking a truth that no-one has spoken yet. At least no-one that isn't in stone throw distance from the car.

 

From my vantage point here at the computer that car got built and never turned a wheel under full-built, rightious power.

You obviously don't need to prove anything to anyone. You have built, at least here recently, a kick-rump roast Impreza, and made it run, but the truth that I see about this RX with the transplanted engine, it never got going.

 

Might not be your fault. Or something that you could control. But the "Ultimate RX" ball got dropped. Maybe not by you, but dropped none the less.

 

At least sitting where I'm sitting, looking for a post on this board about how "Ultimate" it turned out, I just haven't seen it. In the build, Ultimate. In the pictures, Ultimate. Paint, Tires and wheels, Ultimate. But no Vroom. Oh so anticlimactic.

 

Will, I think that you might get to wear that "Ultimate RX" crown before it's all said and done.

 

I could be in the running for "Ultimate RX" I suppose but have ventured out into the world of open wheeled race cars and deisel Mercedes running on WVO. I took to long to finish a project anyway.

 

Sorry I missed the 24hr gig. It looked like a blast.

 

Corky, Don't really mean to call you out because I have respect for your ability and knowledge, but it's time for a story man.

 

What has become of the blue RX?

 

I personally think Tex got it. that's my SWAG, anyway.

Jay, I think I remember a post by corky about the UltimateRX's new owner getting it running...don't quote me on it, but my mind is telling me it happened...

 

will...looks awesome! I admire your persistance on making one of the coolest/fastest subarus I know, and sticking with the EA82 motor! more power to you!!!

I assure you Jay, if I was one that had Ultimate... It would be running, and you would definately hear all about. You guys would hear so much about it, you'd be sick of me.

 

When it was for sale, I tried hard to get it. But.. he who has the money gets the toys.

 

I can't even afford to build a proper ea82t :-/

My RX is sitting in the field not being driven. I haven't started it in about three weeks. I'd say it's properly built, not outrageously so as Will's will be. But respectable none the less. What are your plans with your RX, Tex? Don't you have an Impreza to play with too?

 

I've been working on a Mercedes 300D Turbo converting it to waste veggie oil power.

 

Bought the conversion kit to weld Aluminum. Soon to have two tanks and when I drive it I'll get hungry from the exhaust.

 

Doesn't really matter about the Blue painted RX. It was a good try anyway.

Currently I am having a certified subaru tech go through the RX to help me get it running in top shape. Sadly, once it reaches this point, it will going to a new home. If I was to keep it, I would definately investigate the costs of an EJ swap. I have been swaying to the dark side, and sadly, its winning me over. Power, ease of parts availability, etc...

 

Next Sept. I will be getting married. I may searching for new employment, and if I work really hard might think about moving into a house. I can't afford this many toys at this point.

 

I really can't afford any tickets, nor the insurance hikes they cause. I recently picked up a 1983 Brat for free, that I have put together and got running good. It gets 28-30 MPG on the stock hitachi and is nice driver.

 

I don't have an impreza, nor can I see myself being able to get into one in the near future.

 

Currently in my stable: '83 Brat (driver), '86 Wagon (too pretty to drive), and '87 RX (for sale)

 

I am only 23. I have plenty of time when I'm older to start collecting cars again.

Well, not 100% true, Ultimate did run, but there was a problem with the clutch, so we couldn't drive it. That problem still exsists. It might be coming back to it's birth place soon to get that fixed and finish all the loose end. I'll let eveyone know when that happens.

 

No Tex does not own the car, in fact I still have the title, the person who bougth it from me never transfered the title.

I must say, if it will go faster in a straight line than an STI, it would be pretty ultimate indeed.

:lol: But in defense of the owner of the UltimateRX that I created, I think he just got too many projects going at the same time and the RX got put on the very back burner. I've talked to him many times, he stated that "someday" he'd like to get it running properly, but then he starts another project.

Ultimate all-around or ultimate in certain areas like straight line or around cones? Straight line should be easy to pick as that would be who has the fastest RX at the dragstrip. Who is it at the moment? On this board anyways?

 

I'll never be, at least not in my manual trannied RX. I baby it too much off the line in fear of tearing up my tranny. I wouldn't be worried about this in an automatic.

i know what you mean .. wish my first gear was a bit taller since at least with my setup the dam motor revs to quickly thus making first almost usless except to get rolling and then hit second asap lol
