Subaru Justy Club!

Recommended Posts

Hello Justy Owners and Fans

I would like to start a Subaru Justy Club.

Please email

Justy.Club@gmail.com and I will add your name to the roster. Also please tell me about your Justy and its history. Eventually I will have a website to post the photos and stories for each member. Or just post on this thread. So good!

I will start.

My Justy is called Little Sue. She is a white, 1991 Justy GL with ECVT. She is not always a happy camper, but she tries hard. She does not like baths, but I try to wash her anyway. Her ignition switch died awhile ago, so she had somewhat invasive surgery and we installed a push-button start.

Little Sue does not like Volkswagens. She really does not like them, I don't know why. Whenever we have to park next to one, she lashes out and tries to bite them. She bit me once because I tried to sell her. I think she may have been abused in the past - her frame is a bit dented, perhaps from a crowbar. The CarFax report does not indicate any problems. Anyway, we have worked out our differences.

Little Sue and I are a great team. She has over 100K and still running strong. We use to have a lot of fun on the mountain roads. She can really zip and is quite nimble on her toes. She has two adopted brothers - Dig Dug, my Subaru wagon, and Alex (Alejandro Von Trapper Keeper), a Snaab. Together they are quite a happy family.

------

If we end up being near eachother, maybe we can even have a Justy Parade!! Wouldn't that be the best?

A Justy Club sounds cool!! At the moment I have 10 Justys in various stages and conditions (Parts cars, Fixer-uppers, 1 Daily Driver, and My Tuner project).

Now about the cars: My 1st Justy (The Tuner) I purchased in June 1999. It's a 1988 Justy GL 4WD Carbed with a 5 speed trans. It had 128K mi on it when I got it and now has 173K mi. I have been modifiying this car pretty much since the day I got it (You can see pics of it in the USMB photo gallery under my user name) I drove this car daily untill I took over my wife's 96 GEO Metro 2 years ago....I know...But, the GEO had low miles and 4 doors, Besides I was able to do more to the Justy now that I wasn't driving it every day. I missed driving something different but, lucky for me last Dec I found a 1990 Justy GL 5 door with 4WD, Fuel Injection and an ECVT trans. It had a bad engine (#1 rod let go) but, this past summer I rebuilt a low mi replacement engine, put it in and it runs great! My ECVT unfortunetly has a code 35 that needs to be addressed but, once thats done....I'll be cruisin daily in a Justy again!! (At present I haven't named her..Anyone have any suggestions?? I will post pics of this car in my photo gallery when I get a chance to take some pics.

Too bad you're on the Left Coast......My Justys like to hang out with their own kind. So, your 91 hates VWs.....My 88 has major issues with Ford Festivas..It started 4 years ago when an Aqua Blue, mildly lowered 90 Festiva equipped with tuner rims, a "Fart Can" and yellow racing stripes rolled up next to us at a stop light and wanted a go....We did, and Mr.Festiva lost by a half a car length. Later, one of my automotive students who knew the guy said he was "Cryin" about how he got beat by an old fart (I'm 41) in an old tricked out Justy and that I "must" be using a Sneeky Pete NOS set up. I laughed but, I think my Justy took it personal!!

Anyhow, Good luck with "The Club" and keep us posted!!

Jim

OK, so what I have is a 94 Justy DL 2wd 5sp (FI). I was wanderin around one of the local junkyards looking for a part for one of my other subarus when I saw it sittin there, in great condition. I talked to the yard owner (who was kind of a jerk) and he called his wife and stopped the paperwork hours before she was heading to the dmv to have the car junked. $300 later and a trip to the DMV and the car was mine. It came with a grenaded motor, but I pulled one out of a car up in San jose a few weeks later. Unfortunately its got the darn lubrication problems with the oil pump, so I rebuilt the lower end again recently, and 200 miles later it went out again, cause I guess the grooves were too bad in the timing cover.... SOOO now the engine is out again, and this time I am gonna go thru and rebore the cylinders, etc and do a more complete rebuild. I also have a Toyota SC12 supercharger sittin on a tool box waiting to go in it too :burnout:

Probably the thing I love best about this car is that you can rev the engine up to 7 grand like its no big thing. I also found some alloys from some mazda that bolted up, so now I have 13" rims. I havent really had any races with other cars, cause around here your need to have a truck to do that  . Though I must say the first day I got it running I did some knarly rally racing on a dirt road that goes thru the mountains, and spun it out, etc..
