TurboXT
Hi, I am in the process of swapping my 3 sp. push button 4wd auto trans. for a 4 speed manual Dual Range 4wd. I am aware that I need a rear diff., pedal cluter, etc. but I got to looking at my auto tranny cross member, and mounts, but they look different from the EA81 wagon I got the transmission from, as I couldn't find a Brat at the yard. I have heard that I have to swap out the radius rod mounts, but it seems like I am going to have to drill and tap some holes. Do these swap, and I am crazy, or do I have to get a manual brat cross member? Is there an easier way to do this, or am I just nuts? TomRhere
Not 100% on this, but seem to remember reading here that there is a difference between the 2 X-members. Thinking there's a driveshaft difference also, but.... I've been awake for over 30 hours, I'm whooped, tired, beat,,, I'm going to bed now.. northguy
While you're at it, you might as well put in a 5spd d/r.
Ross
Get the raius rod mounts and the manual crossmember (the manual crossmember mounts on to the manual radius rod mounts) and your away. No drilling/tapping needed. Only cutting you have to do on the whole exercise is to enlarge the shifter hole through the floor. Have fun! [The manual and auto driveshafts are the same.]
TurboXT
So any EA81 cross member will work, say from an old EA81 wagon or hatch?? Thanks Rick
Ross
Any manual one should work. I cant see why Fuji would have bothered making different underbodies for the different cars.
