uncoolperson
the job didn't go through (they only wanted to double my pay), so i'm fixing the dead/dying beast. this weekend: clutch master break doohickey next weekend: figure out how to align my steering.... or take it in to a shop. i welcome any hopes of luck, or advice of things to watch out for... this is a first for me (as the signature states), but i've got my brother around (mudisfun) so this can't go too badly. SuBrat84
Make sure you align the pilot bearing and clutch plate very in the center... i used my finger to make sure it was the same distance all the way around... It makes it WAY impossible to put the tranny back in without that stuff aligned good. Good luck.. have fun!
Free Range
Clutch: Watch out for those ea71 pilot bearings, they are recessed into the bellhousing and suck to get out, a slide hammer is best for the job. Be careful when pulling and re-attaching the motor onto the trans, don't put undue stress on the trans input shaft, I've seen a few of those old school trannies trashed that way.
