My mom just sent me this email from her friend:

July 4 weekend I was leaving town to goto Ohio, in my newSubaru, and I got rear-ended on one of the busystreets in Ann Arbor. The picture is of the truck that hit me - now, to be fairto him, the bumper wasnot crushed in the accident, that happened when he gottowed - but thebumper WAS off at an angle, and his fender was crushed. And then you see mySubaru, and how it looked (of course the body work DIDcome to ~$3000). But folks at the accident (we tied up traffic on thismajor street for about 45min!) were ALL commenting about how there was so little damage to the Subaru, and that it must be a tank. So I thought that was amusing, given how you described Noah's support of all things Subaru. Anyway, my car is fixed now and looks as good as new, which I am glad about, because it seemed too sad to have a car accident when you only have ~4500 miles on the car.

I know how you feel man. A week after getting mine I hit a deer doing 35-45mph and the ONLY damage was a crumpled hood, and a broken headlamp bracket (easy enough to fix). My buddy works at a body shop and painted it at cost ($55) so when all was said and done, I got off the hook for a little over $500 . Don't get me wrong, I was incredibly pissed when it happened, but after thinking about all the other things that could have needed to be replaced, it would've been closer to $2,000. Bumper, Radiator, Fans, grille, and of course; airbag re-packing. Don't you love these things!!! I can't wait to go do goofy ************ in the snow. Getting cold here in CO... Snowboard season's-a-comin'. :brow:

Years ago I was in South Lake Tahoe driving my 1961 Mercury with a welded in trailer hitch/ball. It was a howling snowstorm and I had chains on the rears. I came up to a stoplight, stopped, and was slammed in the rear by a big (for those days) Chevy 4x4 pickup. We both got out and looked at the damage. His truck was stuck to the rear of my car and so I got in and pulled about 5 feet forward. Doing so pulled nearly the entire front end off his truck. The steam was rising and the scene was ugly. I mumbled my apologies (for him hitting me!) and drove off. Looking at my Mercury later I could only find a very slight scratch on the trailer ball!

Maybe they do build 'em like they used to!
