Well, you could do that...but that is environmentally irresponsible. It's actually is illegal in most places. I would suggest taking it to a shop, they hook up recovery equipment to suck it all out. Shouldn't cost very much just to have it dishcarged. I worked in the HVAC business for a while...atleast commercially there are very large fines for dishcarging freon in to the atmosphere (air).
