BG 2.5 GT
Hi, I'm new here. I just bought a pair of JDM projector headlights for my 97 GT Wagon. Any idea what needs to be done to the wiring to make them work?!?!? I could plug away at it, but I'm impatient and I have the wealth of knowledge that is the USMB at my disposal. I'm pretty good with electrical/mechanical repairs, so you don't have to worry about going over my head. :-) Please help me! Thanks, Kevin

nipper
Depending upon how much current they draw, you may have to wire in a relay to handle the extra current. Maybe send an email to who you bought them from, and he can tell you.. nipper
Legacy777
You'll need a wiring diagram for your current lights. Subaru uses a switched ground setup. The projector lights should be able to be wired similarly. You'll just have to utilize the same ground lead for both the projector and high beams. If this sounds a little out there, I'd recommend taking it to a shop or someone that has some more electrical experience. Just to throw it out there. The JDM lights have the wrong beam pattern and will blind on-coming traffic. Since they drive on the the left side of the road the cut is on the right side, and the flare to illuminate road signs is on the left.
BG 2.5 GT
Thanks for the info. Since they are projector lights, do I still have to be concerned about the beam pattern? They seem pretty straight on. There are a total of 4 lamps in the housing. The projector, an amber corner, a 5w (?) and an H3 next to the projector. Lots more than the 9007 and the corner in the stock housing! You'll need a wiring diagram for your current lights. Subaru uses a switched ground setup. Legacy777
Thanks for the info. Since they are projector lights, do I still have to be concerned about the beam pattern? Lots more than the 9007 and the corner in the stock housing! Yes you'll still need to worry about the beam pattern. There is a little metal piece in the projector that serves as the cutoff. I have heard of people modifying that so it has the proper setup, but whether you want to do that, or just put them in is up to you. The 5w bulb is a city light or parking light bulb. The JDM lights have the turn signal in the headlight. that's what the amber bulb is for. The H3 is high beams.
