wrongturninwv
Anybody know if the timing cover gaskets are the same on the 2.2 and 1.8 engine ? Rubber gaskets that go between the 2 cover halves on the 95. thanks
BigMattyD
My guess is that they probably are the same, the reason being that when I cracked the center timing cover for my 2.2, I went to a local Subaru junkyard, and found a 1.8L Impreza engine that had the exact same center timing belt cover. The gasket, then, must be the same? Am I wrong?? Big D

Last owner put sealer all over top of gasket covers cause he over tightened the 3 bolts on each side and back halfs had the nuts pulled right out of them. Think he used the sealer just to hold the 2 halves together. The way they fit together it will not look like you need a seal betweem them at all. I think they just keep the road dust and water off of the belts.
SUBARU3
The covers are identical, as is most of the entire engine.
DerFahrer
About the only significant difference between the EJ18 and EJ22 is slight difference in head design and cylinder bore.
