THE ROSS
So I was driving over a mountain pass and when I downshifted to 4th gear with the peddle to the floor and the rpm's where at about 4500 or so. Everything was normal for about 30 seconds and then it felt like the fuel was being cut or something...if I let off the throttle about 50% it ran normal, but as soon as I went to full throttle again it did it repeatedly. I had just filled it up with chevron super (92 oct) 50 miles ago and had put in some injector cleaner... could this be the cause? Or could it just be a dirty fuel filter? The reason I had put in the cleaner is because sometimes before it would just bogg down if I was at full throttle so it seemed like the injectors were clogged. (I just bought it a few weeks ago and it was sitting for over a year and a half.)
Snowman
What kind of car is this? I would definitely change the fuel filter though, as your symptoms are caused by a clogged filter more often than anything else.
Cougar
If the filter change doesn't work then it may be time for a new fuel pump. You have the symtoms of a weak pump.

It's a 92 Loyale...sorry, I always forget to put that in.... how much for a new fuel pump if the filter change doesn't do it?
bulwnkl
Hey, THE ROSS, please post how you resolve this, will you? I'm chasing a very similar thing in my XT-6. I think it's electrical on mine because you can't reproduce the failure reliably.
