Numbchux
looks pretty cool, I considered doing side-dump exhaust (not up the side of the car, just stopping even with the body), but then noticed all the dents scratches etc. where the pipe would be....I decided against it. MorganM
I thought my cabin smelled like exhuast; couldn't imagine that pipe hanging out by my head. Bad enough with a small leak under the body.

soobmater
i think a side exhaust(under the body) would be pretty cool, no more flatened tail pipes. i bet the paint looks pretty neat under that.

MorganM
I tuck mine up into the drive shaft tunnel. Then exit right before the rear main subframe; so I dont have to go under it or over it.
soobmater
i was thinking right behind the rear tire. not in front cause yes, it would be MORE likely to get smooshed

TurboXT
I welded up a side dump exhaust for my brat, and it's solid! I am confident I can use it as sort of a driveshaft guard/rock slider. It's a 2 1/4" from the cat back, and has a cherry bomb muffler. It dumps where that wagon dumps, except I didn't put 6 feet of pipe on it. I was thinking about maybe a foot, with a flapper on it, going back at a 45 degree angle. It sounds WRXish, despite people telling me it sounds like a VW bug. I'll see if I can get pics up here soon. Rick It will smash; exhaust pipe isnt for sliding on rocks under the weight of your vehicle. Cherry bombs arent super strong either; I've dented the crap out of them. TurboXT
True, but I am not concerned, it cost me $30 to make....I can always run with no Y-pipe if I have to. lol But yeah it will get smashed up obviously if the weight of the car sits on it. But I've run over some high curbs, and it got "high centered" on the exhaust, but the car wasn't sitting on it, it was just kind of exhaust was pushing on the curb, and it slid over the curb (kind of a test) with just scraping it up (nothing too bad)...but if the weight of the car was pushing down on the exhaust, or slammed down on the curb, it would have been gone. So yes, you are right. But once the lift is on, it won't matter as much, but still could get hit. Rick
