robertwheeler
Hi Please forgive that I dont post in the community section first... I am comming on here for my brother and I cant say if Il ever be back.. I dont own a subaru. MY brother noticed shortly after installing a new radio into his car (see topic) that his climate controls no longer seem to work... they seem to be stuck in whatever default position its in... From what I have been able to read this seems like a vacuam problem . I looked through several messages that show how other people in this forum have dealt with this issue have done so and its good reading... But in short I need to know if there is something in the layout of this cars underdash that could have been moved or disconnected while installing a radio? It could also be a straight forward vacuam issue.... at which case I need to know where the Vacuam canister is on this.... My Brother thinks the big silver fuel filter on the driver side by the winshield is it.... And I think its forward by the radiator on the passenger side. To be sure im clear.... the car blows hot air just fine... but he cant control the flow and he really needs the defrosters. Thanks for any Help Regards Robert
Turbone
The easiest way to get to the controls is to remove the radio again. You might be able to see the hose(s) that came off. To remove the control panel itself, theres 2 screws behind the top and bottom pushbuttons(these can be removed with a small screwdriver). The panel is a real expletive deletive. It has the cable for the temp control attached to it and if pulled to hard, it will mess up the settings down below. The actual vac can (I think) is located in the passenger side firewall, a small plastic round unit.
