I would trace the wiring back through everything, i mean start at the pump and slowly work your way forward until you get voltage.

Easier way to to do it is to run a new wire from the proper fuse (and relay if appropriate) back to the fuel pump. Disconnect the end of the old one in case it is shorted somewhere, and put a tape label on it so you don't confuse yourself again later...

Have you checked your fuel pump control unit?

I assume 87's had them.

My FPCU went out and it was giving me fits trying to fix a fuel pump that wasn't broke.

Good Luck,

The fuel pump isn't supposed to see constant 12 volts.

The fuel pump relay is energized when the ignition switch is in the "start" position and also when the engine is running. "Engine running" is defined as the pump controller or ECU seeing tach pulses.

you should also be able to connect the green test connectors, turn the key to on, and the fuel pump should cycle on-off every second or two. There should also be a relay/solenoid under the hood that clicks on & off also. If you don't have voltage at the pump after doing that test, then you can continue to check the Fuel Pump Control unit & wiring.

good luck
