snowstormer
well, i got a full set of nice steel pugs, i says to myself while cleaning and painting them. then upon closer inspection i notice one of them is a little narrower than the rest. #@!%^& junkyard. does anyone have an opinion? can i run 3- 6 inch wide wheels and 1- 51/2 inch wide wheel if they all have the same size tires, or should i prolong my search for one more 6- inch wheel. these things are kinda hard to find. thanks for any input. MorganM
I' dont quite understand what you are asking. Please rewrite it to be a little more clear. Thanks
snowstormer
all of my wheels are the same diameter. [14 inches]. 3 of my wheels are 6 inches wide. one of them is 5-1/2 inches wide. would running one slightly narrower wheel on a car make any difference? handling wise, etc.
calebz
depends on the size of tire you plan on using..if you are planning on using something that stretches the boundries of you 6 inch wheels.. then you will have some problems.. what size tires were you considering? MorganM
Ah ok makes perfect sense now, thanks Hmm sounds like it wouldnt cuase TOO much trouble. I would worry about funny vibrations at highway speeds. Just due to the offset difference. Maybe it would just wear the tire funny on that rim. Personaly I prolly wouldnt run it but thats based more on the fact I dont know what could happen. See if the person who sold them to you will work with you. They sent you the wrong part and to me that's their fault. Maybe you can ship the bunk one back and get a good one?
mcbrat
I'm running that way right now. the 5 1/2" wide was used as the full size spare on the pugs... I asked the tire shop, and they didn't think it's make a difference. I'm running 27x8.50x14's on 'em with no problems...
snowstormer
thanks for the replys. i want to run the same size tires you have, mcbrat. i saw them on your brat, they look awesome! i have a set ordered from tirerack.com. they have some kuhmo [sp?] 27x8.50x14 mud terrains they say they can get. [i hope] fingers crossed... as you guys surely know, tire selection is kinda limited in this size. i want to go beefier than all terrains if possible. StormTrooper
i would suggest more frequent rotation of tires to compensate for offset differences
calebz
one thing to remember is that pugs work so well on our soobies because the offset is very nearly 0. Therefore that half-inch will only equate to 1/4 inch on either side of center
