Gideon
Hi all, My fuel consumption has been running a bit high and my check engine light came on. I checked it out and it says that both o2 filters are dead. Could this be the cause of the higher consumption? And, how much do these cost to replace? Thanks - you all have been very helpfull to me in the past. Gideon.
jamal
sensor, and yes, it could be the cause of your lower mileage. Something about how when the ecu gets a bad reading it will run richer to be safe. I've been getting a cel occasionally and should probably replace mine. subarugenuineparts.com says $92 each for the oem part. I think you can use a parts store sensor but have to splice wires. Other than that, it just threads into the exhaust (but could be a little difficult to remove/reach).
oregonloyale
When sensors go bad it sends the ECU into limp mode where itll run but not very good.
TheBrian
I don't know exactly what kind of Subaru you drive, but, for a '97 Outback, you can get a Bosch direct-fit sensor for $55 or so.
