Headlight ?

Recommended Posts

I have some headlights that I pulled off a junker.

They are in better condition then the ones off of my car, 87 gl wagon.

But, one of them has a hole in the glass. I was wondering if I can safely pull the little brass colored clips off of the side and patch that hole with a little silicone.

Will it hurt the glass to pull it off?

good luck.

I tried that once, and managed to break a sliver of glass off at that tab. The the glass is sealed to the rest of the housing. You may be able to find some solvent to eat up the glue stuff and get the glass off.

I also had a headlight with a small hole in it. Put some silicon in the hole from the outside... worked for a while, then disintegrated and got water inside the headlight again. Maybe a tiny bit of JB weld or similar would seal it well enough to not come out again. Finally just got a new headlight from the boneyard.

I would try some clear epoxy resin, that stuff is really hard and almost everything resistent

you could also try to heat the entire lamp in a oven, that way the glue gets soft again, and you should be able to pull it

then you just have to think of a way to reseal it
