soobscript
I used some fuel hose for coolant, heater hose for PCV, utility hose for coolant, and heater hose for oil. Am I okay?
rallyruss
for short term use yes. long term use NO. heater hose will degrade when used around hydrocarbons over time(usually less than a year) fuel line for coolant may hold up. utility hose? you got me there. what is it? I usually try to use the best hoses/lines I can get my hands on. I have taken shortcuts before and both times the wrong hose failed... far from home(death vally in the middle of the day, Oakland at night). fortunately I was able to get it fixed enough to limp home each time but it would be wise to learn from my mistakes. soobscript
Utility hose: the heavy duty multi-purpose red-outside stuff, reinforced and pretty stiff. I have some Goodyear and some NAPA brand. I think it would be better for coolant than oil. I had a buddy pick up some stuff for me while he was going thru town. He brought me 4' of heater hose instead of PCV-type. I wish they would just say what the hose is made of. :-\ Some hose compatibility links: http://mdmetric.com/tech/rbrcompat1.htm http://www.hbdthermoid.com/flex_strength.htm http://www.ammagazine.com/CDA/ArticleInformation/features/BNP__Features__Item/0,2606,6244,00.html
