Well I have done a search and read some threads. I have what i think is clutch chatter/ judder and other issues. If I let the clutch out slow at a low rpm it bucks/shakes. Now if I give it a lot of gas and let the clutch out slow it is fine. This also happens in the 1-2 upshift most of the time. I have a chirping sound, which I am not sure if its the clutch....I am going out later to find out if I can diagonse it as a clutch (t/o bearing) problem. Now for the last problem, I grind reverse every single time I try to go in it. From past experiences with other cars I was recomened to go into 1st then reverse. I do this with the roo and it seems ok, although I did grind once when doing this. I still love having a roo  ....the car has 113k on it and have no idea if its the original clutch, and it doesn't slip at all

Well I cant get the squelling to come back. It only happens every now and then. It sounds like a brake squell, but I dont have to be braking to make it happen. It usually starts in 1st and continues thru 2nd, then it goes away (at least I cant hear it anymore). I am wondering if it could have something to do with a stick caliper or a sticky hill holder, but my brakes dont squell normally. I dunno.

I can start the car in 3rd pretty smoothly. I have to hold the clutch a lil longer but I can get it to go w/o bucking. I read somewhere that if it starts pretty smooth in 3rd then the clutch is slipping. Although if I hold 2nd gear up to 5k and gas it, there is no slippage, atleast the rpms arent jumping up eratically.

Another thing I noticed. First gear is hard to get into, but if I take it out of 1st and keep the clutch down I can go into 1st very easily, and keep going in it easily. Its just the first time in that is hard.

When I am in 5th gear, its hard to come out of 5th.

I am going to be changing the gear oil this week to redline MT90.

Cable or hydraulic clutch? The grinding going into reverse is usually from it not fully disengaging when your foot is all the way down. Tightening the nut on the clutch cable up a turn or so usually fixes this. If it's a hydraulic clutch, not sure....

  • 2 weeks later...

so apparently my clutch is slipping. I am going to be replacing it and I contacted subie gal through email. The clutch kit is for a 2.5na , so I assume this means it would not work for my 2.2. I am correct on this assumption? The part # is 32098AA020, it includes the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, and flywheel bolts. and it is the non chatter exedy kit
