howards11
Here are my choices for replacement tires for my 2000 Subaru Forester L: (stock size is 205/70R15) (In no particular order) 1. Cooper Lifeliner STE 2. Kelly Navigator TE (upgraded to 215/65R15) 3. Yokohoma Geolander I/T (not sure if this is just a winter tire or not). 4. Yokohoma Avid S/T (upgraded to 215/65R15) 5. Yokohama Avid T4 I'm leaning toward the Avid T4 or the Kelly Navigator TE. Comments please. Thanks ! ~Howard
Crashton
I'm running the Yokohama Avid Tourings on my 2000 Forester L. I also went with a 215/65/15. I like these tires a lot. They are worlds ahead of those cheap Bridgestone duelers that it came with. Very good dry road & rain traction. Don't know how they'll be in the snow. That really doesn't matter to me, because I put Blizzak's on when the snow flies.
Guest lothar34
I think the Geolandar is the stock tire now. I bought my Forester used and it's got 215/65s on it now. Are those close enough to the stock size to use the spare? I think I checked once and the diameter wasn't too far off, but I can't remember what the limit is. Is it 1/4"? howards11
The Geolander is the stock tire now but in a 16 inch variety. The S model for 2000 had the 16 inch tires. ~Howard Originally posted by lothar34 I think the Geolandar is the stock tire now. I bought my Forester used and it's got 215/65s on it now. ferret
I'm running the Yoko Avid T4's. GREAT Wet/Dry Tire. Lousy in the snow. So I have a set of 15" Steel rims with "snow" tires on them. I live in Northern NJ and travel to upstate NY, Mass, Ct and Pa a lot. The Avid are great from spring to fall. 1st snow, they come off. They are not an agressive tread design and "float" on the snow. (my $.02)
howards11
 ANY all season tire is a compromise. What do you suggest that would be good in the snow too ? I don't have the room to store tires so snows are a no go. ~Howard Originally posted by ferret I'm running the Yoko Avid T4's. GREAT Wet/Dry Tire. Lousy in the snow. ferret
Howard, the decision is yours. The Avid T4 is not good in the snow at all. On another vehicle (96 Caravan AWD), we ran Sears Weatherwise for a few years. These are Michelins and were Very Good year round. We then replaced them with Michelin Xone's. These also have been a very good all season tire. I can't comment on your other choices, never tried them.
