wvazq
Their is a squeaky noise coming from the front and rear of my car. I first noticed this noise in March after driving for to a friends house 150 miles away, I think that was 12-15k miles ago. When I first heard the noise, I pushed on the fenders and it made the noise. I think it is the struts squeaking, but a mechanic friend of mine said it could be the first sign the wheel bearings were going bad. He said not to worry about it immediatley, because if it is the bearings, the wheels won't fall off for a while. Later, I noticed the rear makes the same noise. The car is a 2000 outback sport. any thoughts?
Suzam
I've got a MY95 that does that whenever the temp drops below 40°F. Usually takes a good bounce like a speed bump or crossing over the crown of a road at an intersection. Someone once told me I could put a little transmission fluid on the bushings, but I wasn't sure about that. Since it's only in colder weather I just live with it. It's been doing it for about 5 years.
nipper
a really quick test is to spray the bushings with a silicon lubricant and see if it has any effect on it. Squeeky struts are usuallly just annoying as long as they still bounce rebound properly, but i think its more of a busing thing. nipper
