urabus 00
Hi all, I had just recently bought a 2000 legacy gt limited not knowing that they make limited after market parts for it. So my question is would i be able to use a bolt on turbo kit for a impreza (wrx). Or would be able to do an engine swap from an STI. or any good sugestion on how i can increase power. Tbird Man
Not really sure of the differences, and if you can't find the answer here you can try NASIOC.com as they deal mostly with newer models. (not that that isn't here, but this site tends to be centered around the bett.....uhh...older models. )
Tbird Man
Ahh a 2000, Non turbo right, that would be a EJ25, you should look into parts for the 2.5RS as it uses the same motor. of course not all the parts will cross over, so use some common sense. things like injectors, cams, possibily intakes (thought 2.5s are noteriously bad for running poorly many aftermarket intakes) Possibily headers and exausts for Legacys. Not really any turbo kits for it as turbos don't like it's high compression. If you want trbo you can swap in a WRX or Legacy turbo motor. otherwise you're looking at major engie work like low compression pistons and new heads or cams, and possibily a beefier bottom end. ballitch
you CAN buy a turbo kit, but if you run over 6 psi of boost you might kill that motor, you can always take Phase II EJ22 heads, send the cams out of the EJ22 heads to deltacam in tacoma, WA. and have them grind the cams for a better profile, throw in a header and a larger exhaust, and you just gained 30-35 HP, but you will have to run premium gas to keep it from detonating and burning your motor up. take a look over at nasioc and look up Matt Monson, and read all the info about the "High Compression Frankenstein" ~Josh~
